Expressing Peace. Portable Peace. 36.

starbucksPortable peace is peace you carry with you. Yes, but, peace at Starbucks?

This is a different Expressing Peace than the Coffee Peace (20). That one dealt with the first cup of the morning. Sitting at a nearby Starbucks, I’m motivated to write about the peace surrounding me. It’s peace brought in by customers. It’s portable peace.

Starbucks may be as famous for its “portability” as for its coffee. It offers portability for office work, studying, meeting a friend, discussing business, reading, writing. It’s not that Starbucks (or any coffee bistro) offers coffee to go. That’s not the portable I mean.

It’s the energetic peace (the peaceful energy?) that customers bring with them. Portable peace.

Sitting here, now, I smell the coffee, hear the conversations’ hum, see heads over books and keyboards, and feel the positive energy filling the room.

Take a moment and reflect on places you go that are busy, crowded, talk-filled. Can you feel the energy? Does that translate for you as peace? Is it easy to see that peace is not always sitting still, being quiet, doing nothing. Peace is anything that lets you feel the peace, anything that lets you know your connection with Spirit’s Peace.

Sitting here, now, I enjoy my connection with Peace. I enjoy the connection that everyone around me has with Peace.

Best Friend GOD,
Wherever I am, I can know Peace.
Wherever I am, you are too.
As you are ever present
and you are Peace,
then Peace is all around me.
You allow us so many ways
to enjoy peace as we define it.
You give us the power
as individual beings to create our peace,
to reflect our peace,
and to share our peace with others.
What pleasure you give
that we may see in another’s eyes
or smile or tilt of head
the peace they know,
the Peace you are.
And so it is.
And so we thank you, GOD.
Amen. Amen.

Enjoy Peace. Express Peace.

Expressing Peace. Breathe. 35.

Breathe Peace

Breathe Peace

Breathe. Draw air in through your nose slowly and deeply, all the way to your belly.

Hold that breath for a moment.

Breathe out through your mouth. Gently push the air with your belly muscles.

You probably didn’t do it.

Breathing is so natural, automatic, and involuntary that to  make a special effort to do it in a special way seems unnecessary.

We are breathing all the time. Here are some interesting numbers from the Herald Tribune:

Allow your mind to rest on your breathing and feel the peace that results. Allow your Being to enjoy that gentle focus, the rhythm of your breath, and you will know the Peace that makes it all possible.

With more than half a billion breaths in your lifetime, concentrating peacefully on 5 or 10 each day, is not that great a commitment. Until you make it. Then you’ll see how great it really is.

Breathe in. Draw air in through your nose….

Bringer of Breath,
how wonderful is the power to breathe!
We breathe in life. We breathe out love.
The nurture of each breath gives us health.
The blessing of each breath is our spiritual creation:
each breath can let us know your Peace.
Each breath reveals our part expressing and sharing.
Each inhale-exhale fuels our role co-creating the Joy of Life.
Thank you, GOD, that we are not limited to our human breathing.
Thank you, GOD, that we breathe in your Love
that is the Peace,
that is our reason,
that is your blessing.
And so it is.
And so we breathe.
Amen. Amen.

Breathe Peace.

Expressing Peace. Daily Word. 34.

Daily Word

Daily Word

Today’s Daily Word from Unity is comfort.

God’s abundant peace is only a thought away.
I am comforted by the divine inner light shining peace, power, and love within me.

I love the Daily Word, read it every day, and always find spiritual meaning and import.

However….for the past 34 days, my personal daily word has been Peace.

When I began this 100 Day project I only knew two things: I truly appreciate the peace I know and the Peace I know, and I really wanted to give them continuous focus. It’s been fun. It’s been easy. Most beneficially, it’s given me more of those two things I knew:

One morning a several days ago, my ego asked, “So, what’s your peace topic for today?” That is the small voice in my head that sometimes makes a lot of noise. As usual I felt the gut-tug and the brow-furrow. I even heard myself worry, “Where will I find something to write about?”

I knew at once the beautiful truth of the sentence from today’s Daily Word: God’s abundant peace is only a thought away.

And that Peace is my Peace. That’s the day I wrote about Earth Peace. The idea came (from GOD) as I drove to the office, free of the fear that I might not think of something to write about.

My daily word is Peace. It will be for another 66 days and very likely beyond.

GOD of Every Day,
present every second of every day,
sending us Love and Peace every moment,
guiding and supporting us in any situation,
I thank you for the sweet certainty
that your Peace is always present.
How good to know with faith
that any time I press myself to ask
“Where is my peace?”
the answer is
“Peace is within. Peace is all around.
Peace is in every cell, in every light,
in every breath, in every thing,
in everyone.”
How good to know. How powerful to remember.
And so it is.
Amen. Amen.

Enjoy Peace. Express Peace

Expressing Peace. Clouds. 33.

Clouds Peace

Clouds Peace

Clouds. Peace.

There may be something to do more peaceful than watch clouds decorate the sky. I cannot imagine what it is.

Viewing high, white mounds from a grassy hillside. Spotting silver, streaks beyond city skyscrapers. Cheering cotton balls racing across the ocean sky.

Defined thus: “A cloud is a visible mass of condensed droplets or frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere.” Yet, by its nature a cloud is peaceful: fluffy, vaporous, lighter than air, silent.

Joni Mitchell had it right:

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way.

Some cloud-associations are not immediately peaceful perhaps. The billowing dark of thunderclouds threatens…to be followed by nurturing rain. Every hurricane has an eye…the center of whirling clouds where everything is perfectly still. A tornado’s destruction denies its sculptural beauty…but the peace that follows relieves assures that life continues.

The cloud itself is a frequently-visible, pleasant symbol of peace.

Nature creates clouds’ role in the cycle of earthly life and enjoys them as elements of its peace.

And how easily the glimpse of a partly-cloudy sky suggests the Perfect Peace, the more-than-worldly abundance that is Love and Joy.

Blissful Spirit,
as clouds mark the sky with beauty and grace,
your gifts of peace mark our lives the same.
As you are the Perfect Peace clouds symbolize,
we enjoy the total calm and comfort
as we know Peace within each of us.
Clouds serve not only to beautify the heavens.
They return to us water’s nurture.
They shade us from the summer sun.
Your Peace as well refuels and refreshes us.
We bless you for the gift of clouds;
we thank you for the Peace that they suggest,
the Peace within each drop of vapor.
And so it is. Amen. Amen.

Enjoy Peace. Express Peace.
