Expressing Peace. Yawn. 60.
Wby do you yawn?
Science and folklore have lots of reasons. All of them equally (un)sure. I’m of the opinion that yawning is meant to make you peaceful.
A yawn involves opening your mouth, dropping your jaw, drawing in lots of air, filling your lungs, flexing your abdominal muscles, pushing out your diaphragm, stretching your ear drums (yes!), and blowing out some of the air.
And then? That moment after is the peace. Recall that relaxation, release, relief your body and face feel after a yawn. For me, that’s reason enough.
The oft-given answers to “Why do you yawn?” are many and varied:
- Drawing in extra oxygen
- Relieving fatigue or sleepiness
- Cooling a warm brain
- Conveying empathy with a responding yawn
- Sending a message (“I’m bored” or “It’s time for bed” or “Back at you!”)
Since science hasn’t definitively proven any of those, I’m holding onto my reason.
My subconscious knows I need or want to experience peace: physical peace, emotional peace, mental peace. A good ol’ yawn is an instant, well-proven provider of whatever peace.
Have you yawned since you began reading? I have!
Waking GOD,
you are present in and for even the smallest acts.
You guide us in the minor tasks without our knowing.
So when we recognize that we perform a simple do
and receive peace without real planning,
we have nothing to say but “Thank you!”
Our yawns for every reason give us peace.
You give us yawns that we may breathe and stretch,
that we may soothe and fill our Self with ease.
You have us share our yawns, a signal that
we are the One and love that Peace the more.
Our yawns grace us with energy and with stillness.
You, Sweet Spirit, grace us with yawns.
And so it is. Amen. Amen.
Enjoy Peace. Express Peace.

Expressing Peace. Peace Practice. 59.
Perhaps you follow a daily peace practice. Maybe it’s less structured than a true ritual might be.
What is most important about an activity we consciously carry out to realize peace? The peace.
Too often, I have become so enthralled with the process that I have overlooked appreciating the outcome, the peace itself.
If you regularly practice “peace producers”, you may not want to focus so much on the format and procedure. You don’t want to lose sight of the peace reward.
A peace practice may have as many or as few elements as you desire. For the record, I focus on three categories: time, place, and action.
The time consciously concentrating on knowing peace is entirely up to you. It may be a set time of the day. It should be enough time that you’re not rushed or pressed. You want to free that time completely from other distractions. Other than that, it’s your time. Enjoy it.
The place where you allow yourself to achieve peace is yours to choose. Perhaps you prefer a regular place: the same place every time. You may want that as a designated place, a place marked off in your mind where you practice being peace-filled. Even more, you may want to give your place identifiers — a chair or cushion, a picture, a symbol — that set it as “the place.”
The actions may be the key to your peace practice. I think of Be, Do, and Have actions. You may focus on being some way that accomplishes your peace: still, mindful, focused, for examples. You may actual be doing something that brings peace to you and to your mind: reading, praying, walking are possible. The purpose of your peace practice is your having peace, having consciousness of peace, and having gratitude that you experience peace.
Time, place and actions are important as they bring us real experience of being peaceful, enjoying peace. They are not ever as important as the peace they bring. I’m glad to be more conscious of focusing on the outcome.
Good Friend, GOD,
the pure joy of feeling your Peace
and knowing my peace
is all I need.
Thank you for helping me use tools
to feel and love the peace;
thank you for helping me realize
the tools are only tools:
your Peace is the prize produced.
I thank you for the gifts of having peace
and being Peace;
I thank you for the gift of awareness
that lets me praise your giving.
Thank you, GOD.
And so it is. Amen. Amen.
Enjoy Peace. Express Peace.

Expressing Peace. Intentions. 58.
“Intention is the starting point of every dream…… Everything that happens in the universe begins with intention.” (Deepak Chopra)
My intention is more than what I think I want.
Expressing intentions connects my heart purpose (passion, desire) with the Universe. My intentions put it out there as I am knowing that what I believe is my reality.
It’s pretty key, then, that I believe my intentions.
When I know my heart purpose, I know what I truly want. And when I know what I truly want, I know my heart purpose. That’s what ensures I believe my intentions.
As I express my intentions and release them to the Universe, I surrender them to my faith that my intention is manifest. That faith lets me not worry about verb tense: “is manifest” works fine.
Setting and expressing an intention is another way to pray. Connecting with Universe, Spirit, GOD. Stating my intention to be, my intention to do, my intention to have. Then releasing the intention; and so it is. Holding the faith that my intention is becoming real, reality. Amen. Amen.
Inspirer of Intentions,
your blessing encourages me
to know heart-deep what I want to be.
My faith encourages me
to share that want as my intention,
to speak it to you.
Your presence allows me
to know heart-deep what I want to do.
My Spirit-led energy flows from you
and has me express that intention, too.
The peace I gain from knowing, sharing, and releasing
my intention every day
lets me know, Sweet GOD, how much I have.
And so it is. Amen. Amen.
Express Intentions. Enjoy Peace.

Expressing Peace. Thank You. 57.
Thank you for being part of this Expressing Peace effort. Thank you for allowing me to join my discovery of so many causes of peace with my delight in praying.
The connection between peace and praying came through loud and clear today. All day today.
Thank you, Everlasting Presence, for the urgings to say simple ‘thank you’s’ so many times today.
For reasons I don’t need to fathom, I felt more often today than any day before, my gratitude for this or that or something else.
Sweet Spirit, as my friend ends his unemployment and so many months of emotional unease, he and I are thankful that the condition is perfect for him to return to work.
The more those prayerful moments happened, the more I was aware of things around me, so often overlooked.
These tools and gadgets that make my work easier, more enjoyable, I do appreciate. That they let me do what I do and more, I thank you, Good Friend.
When my mind wandered from tasks at hand to someone far away in miles or years, the thank you prayers spilled over.
How pleased I am that have shared and loved and spent good times with so many throughout my life. The joy I feel is present though the experiences are past. Thank you, GOD.
Moments walking outside seemed fuller, brighter, richer with all the beauty and pleasure of nature. The gratitude was stronger, deeper, and pronounced.
Thank you, Architect, for all that is of nature. And thank you for the specific parts that catch my eye: white clouds and blue sky, the soaring hawk. The parts that touch my ear: crickets’ scratch and birds’ call. Even the fragrance that my nose notices: mowed grass.
Loving Peace, the many ways you let us know peace
bring us such awareness of your Peace.
The prayers we share with you are conscious instances
of that Peace realized in our minds and in our hearts.
And so it is. Amen. Amen.
