Body Mind Spirit
My dilemma: denying the importance of my physical body and/but/or enjoying the freedom my body allows.
As I swam laps this afternoon, each stroke made me thankful for my strength and coordination.
As Cindy and I ate a healthy homemade frittata at supper, I enjoyed experiencing and satisfying my appetite.
As I fall asleep in just a bit, I will appreciate the fatigue > rest > energy cycle.
All those things are definitely body-focused. I cannot deny the reality and the real importance I enjoy from (attach to?) being in a physical form.
And so I am ever-thankful for remembering the unity of body and spirit. As Ernest Holmes says,
I lay all weariness aside and accept the life-giving, invigorating, dynamic activity of the Spirit,
knowing it that it vitalizes every organ of my body;
it flows with power and strength and purpose through everything I do,
as it leads me gently down the pathway of life.
(Ernest Holmes)
MotherFather God
The body is a wonder in many ways:
as a costume in the plays of life,
as a vehicle moving from place to place,
as a machine of many uses and purposes.
This body is your gift allowing
our creation of a physical consciousness,
a social interweaving,
and an expression of your Spirit.
The body lives and breathes and moves entirely
thanks to your Spirit.
And so it is. And so we thank you!
Amen.
