Expressing Peace. Child. 17.
Child Peace
To be a child is to know peace. The peace a child knows is the True Reality. Child Peace. That is why its absence — hunger, alone-ness, wetness — causes immediate (and loud) expression. That is why once peace returns, the child is back in bliss.
In Leaves of Grass (103), Walt Whitman offered
“There was a child went forth every day;
and the first object he look’d upon, that object he became;
And that object became part of him for the day, or a certain part of the day, or for many years…...
The early lilacs…...
And grass, and white and red morning glories..and the song of the phoebe-bird…and the mare’s foal…and the cow’s calf……
Winter-grain sprouts, and those of the light-yellow corn……
And the apple-trees cover’d with blossoms……
And the friendly boys that pass’d–and the quarrelsome boys……
And all the changes of city and country, wherever he went…….
These became part of that child who went forth every day, and who now goes, and will always go forth every day.”
And Jesus the Christ said we should “be as a little child”. We were not told to be a child or childish, rather to enjoy and appreciate, even to re-experience, a child’s innocence and gentleness. That is Peace. Child Peace.
Larry Dossey, M.D., says “Children are icons of innocence….They remind us of what we once were and what we may realize once again.”
Remember. Reflect. Feel. Enjoy. Become as a child. Let go the tumult that we each create to test ourselves and prove ourselves adults. For a moment become as a child. Know Child Peace.
Remove your shoes. Watch the clouds. Sing a nursery rhyme. Play a game, even if imaginary. Become a child.
MotherFather GOD,
Not just a Child of GOD
I may be too a child at heart;
I may feel as a child the openness
to all there is:
nature and knowledge and success,
giving and patience,
and sunshine and starlight.
I may return these wonders and the excitement they give,
all wrapped up as the Peace
they let me once more know:
Peace of Order,
Peace of Perfection,
Peace of Oneness
Peace of Completeness, Wholeness,
Love.
And so it is. And so I AM Child of GOD.
