Expressing Peace. Peace Mantra. 22.
A peace mantra can be a powerfully peaceful addition to meditation. Not necessary but potentially a plus.
Do you meditate with a mantra?
Mantra is thought to mean “mind protector.” Perhaps a mantra protects the mind from following distracting thoughts when one meditates.
If I’ve meditated 25 years, perhaps I’ve used 25 mantras. Not necessarily a different one each year. Many of those years have been mantra-free.
Yet, lately my meditating has taken on much greater peace, peacefulness, peace production. And lately I credit my mantra for that.
Om. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.
It began by my chanting Om on each exhale, 108 times. Did that for a couple of weeks. A bit of research and I discovered the Om. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti. mantra. Of the several meanings associated with Om, I choose “everything; all being; reality’s past, present, future”. Shanti means peace. Repeated three times is thought to refer to peace of body, speech, and mind.
No, I’m not a practicing Buddhist. The rhythm of Om. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti. replaces any chaos in my mind, in my being. The vibration of speaking the mantra slows down my pulse, stretches out each breath. Mantras do not have to be spoken aloud. They can be “said and heard” in the mind. I just like the vibration throughout my chakra chain.
Yes, I believe repeating a mantra is praying. To GOD and with GOD and about GOD. It certainly promotes connection. It clearly generates Peace.
Presenter of Peace
my voice chants your Peace.
My mind sings your Peace.
My body dances and walks and spins your Peace.
Your Peace vibrates beneath my words.
Your Peace pulses in my every cell.
Your Peace hums each breath I take.
Whether I sit and quietly chant
or run and feel each footfall on the earth,
my rhythm is the Peace we share.
If I clap my hands and sing your praise,
if my body sways as I give you thanks,
the tempo is your Peace, my Peace, our Peace.
And so it is.
And so I thank you, GOD.
Amen. Amen.
Enjoy Peace. Express Peace.
