For a long, long time, I felt prayer came in only two forms: asking and thanking.
- God, may we make this trip safely.
- Thank you, God, for a beautiful vacation.
- Please, God, help me pass my test.
- I am thankful, God, for my loving family.
A real kick is realizing prayer can be so much more than asking and thanking. A bigger kick is understanding prayer as an active part of an action process.
Praying states to God (that Power of Good) something of meaning for us: action, desire, appreciation, peace, forgiveness… . The list of why we pray and what we pray is infinite.
Praying sets in motion the actions by God, the Power of Good. Some say the actions are the prayer being answered. Some believe God’s answering the prayer even as we are praying.
Some say the motion is a vibration that tickles (my word) God into action.
All this makes me know that I pray with God for I am of God.
Living, loving God
I love the Good you are
the Good you share, the Good of which I am Your expression.
I praise the power praying brings,
the power from knowing Your Mind is mine, Your Heart is mine,
and knowing Your Love is mine.
