What a gift…

I performed the pre-New Year apartment mega-clean this morning. I came across a small box of cards and photos that appeared after my maternal grandmother’s funeral. One item was the index card, neatly scribed by Gram’s hand…

A New Day

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given it to me to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important because I’m exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone foreger, leaving in its place something I have exchanged for it.
I want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure –in order I shall not regret the price I paid for it.
(Heartsill Wilson)

As those words apply to each day, they apply as well to each new year. For sure, they applied to Gram and how she lived her life.

Happy New Year!
