A Thursday Prayer
Unity Principle 4. There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God.
12 years ago on a morning run on a beautiful morning, I said, “Thank you, God, for life and life’s blessings.”
That marked my discovery of prayer. The various prayers learned and recited as a kid were nice but never got through to me or for me.
Then a little more than two years ago, I became a prayer chaplain for my church and the people of the church. Soon I discovered that even more I had become a chaplain for myself. What amazing discovery in the last 30 months.
Discovery about prayer.
Discovery about listening.
Discovery about love.
Discovery about God and me and me and God.
Discovery about individuals.
Discovery about people as one.
Prayerful God, what a wonderfully creative gift praying is. Thank you!
With freeing joy I learn there is no wrong way to pray. There is nothing I cannot pray about, for there is nothing I cannot share with you.
You lead me to awareness that prayer is multi-media: spoken, written, blinked, smiled, breathed, bubbled, danced, painted, observed.
You show me that prayer supports, uplifts, soothes, energizes, motivates, and mellows.
You help me pray more often, often for no reason other than to pray.
Thank you, God.
Amen.
