Prayer of principle (4)
Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God.
Denials and affirmations are tools we use. (Principle 4, Unity Basic Teachings)
The above statement is clear and true. Ellen Debenport’s statement of this principle (The Five Principles: A Guide to Practical Spirituality) excites me even more:
Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind
and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity and everything good.
A close friend recently mentioned that nothing is so pure as prayer. I would add that nothing is so creative as prayer.
Prayer in any form and for any reason expresses our creative wants, needs, and gratitude. Praying at any time opens our hearts, our minds, our entire being to a two-way flow of expression with God.
Good friend God, what joy to share with you my every thought,
my every feeling.
Thank you that I am free to whisper my prayer,
or shout it.
Thank you that I am free to sing my thoughts with you,
or silently know you know them.
Thank you, Good Friend God, that no matter what I have to say to you,
whether I mumble it with my eyes closed,
or speak it clearly admiring the world you made,
you let me know we share the creation of our praying.
And so it is.
Amen.
